Connect your keyboard using a USB data cable, press Connect, and allow MIDI access. Select its MIDI input; DAW ports control music software. If pads trigger unwanted notes, choose the keyboard channel shown next to the last note. For devices sending note-on/off on different channels, use Compatibility release. Settings are remembered for each keyboard in this browser.

Read MIDI online and play a virtual piano

PianoDrift lets you listen to MIDI songs and practice directly in your browser. Open a song, follow the falling notes and play with your computer keyboard, mouse or a compatible MIDI keyboard.

Open MID, MIDI and MDI files

Use Open MIDI or drag a file into the page to see its notes and hear the song. Files ending in .mdi are accepted when they contain standard MIDI data; renaming a PDF or image does not turn it into MIDI.

Practice at your own pace

The piano displays 88 keys from A0 to C8. Slow down a passage, loop A–B, choose a hand or track, or use Wait for notes to continue only after you play the expected notes. Adjust the sound, volume and virtual sustain pedal.

Connect your MIDI keyboard

On a browser that supports Web MIDI, connect your USB keyboard, press Connect MIDI and allow access. Launchkey and other MIDI keyboards can use their own key range while the screen keeps the full 88-key piano.

Keep your songs across devices

Sign in to save uploaded songs in your private library and open them again on another device. Free accounts include 40 MB. Optional 1 GB, 2 GB and 3 GB plans are shown under Storage plans with the prices configured by the site administrator.

Do I need an account to play?

No. You can open and play a local MIDI file without signing in. An account is needed to store songs on the server and access your library from other devices.

Is this sheet music recognition?

This player reads MIDI data. It does not automatically convert sheet music images or scanned PDFs into MIDI. Convert those files to MIDI first, then open the result here.
